The planning ritual: we wouldn’t do without it anymore 🗓

Hello friends,

I hope you and your family are doing well and starting to enjoy the weather; spring is coming 💐 (well, in our house, not yet!❄️🌨).

The end of last weekend made me think of an article idea 🧐! Indeed, every Sunday evening, I build the planning of the week with all appointments and events (school, time with dad, weekend…).

Here is a picture of a typical week!

In fact, this is a trick that the ABA therapist advised us to reassure our Aspergirl because the unknown stresses her a lot. So, if she knows upfront how her week will go, she will be reassured, so she will be calmer, and there will be much less emotional overload (so fewer outbursts!💥).

I admit that at first, we were a bit dubious: “how could a simple little Excel schedule calm her down? 🤔”. However, as soon as the first schedule was displayed in the house, she felt more reassured! In a single day, she could look at the chart several times to see what will happen!

Moreover, it allowed us to put on the planning a moment of sharing with her dad (chess game…) because she missed it a lot, especially when my husband was often away! It decreased her stress, her “anger” towards her father. Over time, she doesn’t need that moment anymore, but it is marked: she knows it can happen if she wants it to! 💙😉

We also put it one for her brother, which reassured him about his place in the family: he can have a moment with Daddy! 💙💙

We’ve been using it for several years, and even though they don’t look at it every day, they remind me when I forget it!!!😜. This year I added the number of each day because, in their schools (Ottawa 🇨🇦), it’s organized by counting the number of days since back to school (for my daughter, it’s from day 1 to day 5 and my son from day 1 to day 10). And I tweaked my son’s planning, and added more info like sport, library… You can customize it at will by adding what is essential to remember for you and the children with a colour code so, it is more visual and easier to notice…

Have you created one? Does it help your children and even you, too?

Don’t hesitate to share your tips and tricks with me: it can help other families and me! ❤️🧡🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🖤🤍🤎

See you soon and take good care of yourself! 🥰😘

1…2…3… Let’s share!!!! 😊😊😊😊
