The book “LA FILLE PAS SYMPA” by Julia March

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re doing well and not too bothered by winter viruses .

I want to discuss about a book that might interest you!

It’s called “LA FILLE PAS SYMPA” by Julia March. Only for those who can read French: sorry, there is no English version yet!

Our therapist recommended it to help me better understand my teenage aspergirl! She’s changing and growing up, so sometimes we lose our bearings. We feel as lost as they can be .

This is the author’s own story: a young woman with Asperger’s autism – diagnosed as an adult and raised in the kingdom of Jehovah’s Witnesses. ⚠️: I don’t want to get into the religious debate!”⚠️

She tells us about her life, her differences, her way of seeing the world and others! The difficulties she had with others and in her congregation! She had a difficult childhood that prevented her from building herself by knowing her particularity. She knew she was different but didn’t understand why.

This book is fascinating because it allows us to “get inside” the brain of an autistic person… It helps us to understand them better and to support them better so that they can live harmoniously in an environment where everyone can flourish.

In addition to her differences, she talks to us about family violence, this religion apart, and the difficulties that young people can encounter…

I learned a lot by reading Julia’s story, “That Not Nice Girl,” and I discovered certain character traits and behaviours that my daughter might have .

Afterwards, as she’s an Asperger’s writer, the text is dense. Sometimes, we get lost in specific details, but that didn’t shock me because it’s part of her personality: her writing style! It could very well be my great aspergirl style .

Her testimony is touching and full of hope as she eventually finds her way, settles into her life, knows and understands her particularity! It’s optimistic and shows us that our little and big atypical ones are resilient .

Do you know about this book? Have you read it? What did you think of it?

Feel free to comment or send me a message!

See you soon, and all the best for you and your family
