1st steps in the astypic world

Everything began after a month of horrible vacations (screams, tantrums, fights, breaking the TV….) when we could not manage our big princess or little prince anymore…An appointment was booked with a specialized therapist in high potential because we thought of this track for our big girl.

Horrible appointment in the continuity… We had never seen them like that 😳: limit to climb on the furniture for the little one, or Β« villain Β»…

Results: getting my daughter tested for Qi to determine her disorders. The therapist was sure about it for my big one. And he thought about hyperactivity for my son (not agreeing with him: he is mirroring his sister’s behaviors: maybe hypersensitivity?).

A few weeks later, the test was done high potential but attention disorder with possible Asperger’s syndrome (she told him that “he stank from the mouth” πŸ˜‹, echolalia….)

So, we made the test with a specialized therapist in autism/Asperger syndrome:

β€’ First step questionnaire with us parents: we went back to his early childhood because there are already signs of tiny (ex: no 4 legs).

β€’ Same test as his dad (adapted to the child) and unequivocal result: Asperger syndrome.

My husband took the tests right away…. and there is no doubt about it: he has Asperger’s syndrome with high intellectual potential.

They both felt better: “This is it; we know who we are,”…. but it was a significant change (especially in my husband’s head ….)

My daughter will be followed by a specialized psychologist…she needs to work on her emotions and interaction with others.

My husband is working on himself but will follow pieces of training (on emotion management and micro-expressions), sharing with other atypicals, reading…
