Hello everyone,
I hope you are doing well, and everything is going well for you! I don’t know if at home it’s like that too, but here the resumption of school after the vacations was virtual! And we are on the computers since January 4, and we start today, the 3rd week of this virtual school💻!!!
For us, finally for the children especially it is not always easy. And moreover, each one lives it differently! But we don’t forget ourselves, never 😉: for the parents, it’s not easy to juggle with work, meetings, and school support for the children! Bravo bravo “friends” 🥰: I send you all my support and congratulations because managing everything at once deserves an Oscar 😉🤩.
So, for my big, teenage debutante and aspergirl 😜, it’s going pretty well. Once the panic of the beginning is over (the planning of the week, at what time do we start, how do we make the break??….). She manages well on her own; she does her homework and asks me for help if needed. She is becoming more and more autonomous; it’s impressive🤩😎! She talks more, even in front of the camera. She amazed me the other day when she managed a game (that she made by herself) at her brother’s virtual birthday party. And as she tells me: “she likes the virtual school because she can sleep more in the morning.” Afterwards, even if she likes it, it has to be only temporary because she needs to “practice” at the level of social interactions. Otherwise, she will lose all her skills.
As for my little prince, a big boy of 8 years old (since January 8 🥳🤩) with more and more visible problems (attention deficit disorder, dysgraphia?), it’s a different story! For him, there are days when it’s not too bad and days when it’s hell: being concentrated, sitting on a chair in front of a screen for several hours a day is so complicated for a hyperactive child, even just cognitive 🤯😝. Even for a neurotypical child, it’s not easy! And as it’s virtual, for fundamental learning, such as reading the time, for example, they have no concrete support… Luckily, we are there to help him come back to reality, guide him a little, and even help him with specific exercises. Otherwise, he would have dropped out of school in the first week. But unfortunately, given the intensity of his efforts, sometimes we crack, he cracks, and it ends in tears, in crisis😢… and we are all exhausted from our day!
For him, some subjects are more accessible, but everything related to writing is not straightforward (we are pleased that we can make him pass the dysgraphia tests. And that afterwards we have some tips to help him! 🤞🏻🤞🏻).
What our little prince lacks is concrete learning, and above all, concrete support to assimilate new concepts! And the most important thing is to spend time with his friends, to play together.
And for us, the parents, how is it going? Fortunately, at home, I have a job that allows me to be close to the children, help them and prepare their meals… I know that we are lucky because it is not necessarily possible for all families! Already in our house, sometimes it’s hard work and exhaustion at the end of the day, so when two parents work full time, have meetings, I can imagine the hell it can be for others! I take my hat off to you: BRAVO, YOU ARE CHAMPIONS!!🤩👏🏻👏🏻🏆🥇
The virtual school is good because the children do not have to put up with the mask and because we take the time in the morning, but they miss the social interaction, the sharing, and the concrete support of the learning! I wanted to make a “little dedication” to the teachers who, as we say here, “work hard” to make the virtual days dynamic with different supports! Thanks to them! 🥰
I hope that the children will soon be able to go back to school and resume almost everyday life! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🌈🌈
And you, how is school going? Virtual or face-to-face? How do your children experience it? Don’t hesitate to share your feelings and experiences with me!
Take good care of yourself and your little ones. 💙💖💙💖
